Stormy summer sunset
A thunderstorm was taking place at the time of the pictured sunset.

Thirty-seven years ago, twin Southland storms that began Jan. 18 and ended Feb. 25 forced the evacuation of an estimated 6,000 people in seven counties, virtually wiped out the Ventura marina and caused more than 90 deaths.
