Heat and storms

(Early Sunday morning, June 25th, 2006)

Another hot day expected for all inland areas of southern California.

Temperatures for Monday will reach into the 90s and 100s in the valleys, 80s and 90s in the mountains and 100s and 110s in the deserts.

A weak southeast flow will continue to produce a risk for isolated thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts today...along with Orange and San Diego counties.

The primary threat from these storms will be locally gusty winds and lightning strikes.

On this date in 1990...
Southern California suffered the worst day of a major heat wave.

112 degree temperature was recorded at the Los Angeles Civic Center.

(The hottest recorded temperature for the city of Los Angeles).
