Much colder temperatures on the way for southern California beginning Friday and likely continuing through the weekend.
Temperatures will lower to record levels for most parts of the southland Saturday and Sunday...with some valley locations dipping into the 20s during the overnight and early morning hours with temperatures only recovering into the 40s and 50s Saturday afternoon with slightly warmer temperatures on Sunday afternoon.
Precipitation will turn out not to be the big story with the trough. Most area only recieving 0.10 to 0.25" amounts through Friday evening.
The snow levels will drop down to 1,500 feet or so from L.A. County northward and 3,000 to 3,500' areas from San Bernardino County southward.
Only light accumulations are expected in the mountain areas (1 to 4" possible at the resorts).
There may be a few flurries down to some of the higher foothills of the Santa Clarita and San Gabriel valleys Friday. But no accumulation expected there.
It will be windy through Friday...especially over the mountains and desert areas.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the mountains and deserts of San Bernardino...Riverside and San Diego counties until 8:00pm Friday.
