The big chill and winds

(Roadrunner - Saturday, Jan. 13th, 2007)

Like Sunday...many record low temperatures will likely be established Sunday (record low temperatues...and record low high temperatures)...and southern California continues under the Arctic air mass.

The lowest temperature every recorded on January 14th for the Downtown Los Angeles observation site is 37 degrees set in 1932.

At 3:00am Downtown L.A. had a temperature of 39 degrees...so it looks likely the at least a tie of the record low temperature this morning.

Meanwhile... Gusty winds are expected to develop late tonight and continue through most of Tuesday for area through and below passes and canyons over the Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino counties.

Gusts may exceed 60 mph in above mentioned areas beginning late tonight.

In the Hollywood Hills and Santa Monica Mountains gusts to 30 mph are possible beginning late tonight.

As for the Road Runner picture... this has recently been rare site in the high desert...due to human growth driving away wildlife such as these birds.
