Wintry blast on the way!

(San Bernardino Mountains - Near Rim of the World)

The coldest temperatures (for some in several years) are on tap for the late in the week.

A strong cold trough of low pressure will dive south into the southland by late Thursday into Friday.

This will bring very cold temperatures to the southland on Friday and continuing through the weekend.

Some precipitation will be possible starting late Thursday through Friday evening.

The snow level will drop to 1,500 feet Thursday night and Friday. But...unlikely any snow will accumulate down to those levels.

But... this will mean snow flurries will be possible along the foothills of the Santa Clarita, San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys...along with possible light dusting of snow in the Santa Monica mountains.

For LA and the OC... light rain showers are possible Thursday night and Friday. Temperatures on Friday in the lower to middle 50s for the most part...with lows in the middle to upper 30s on Friday night.

Updates on wintry at... Southland WX.
