Big storm to bring unsettled weather to the southland
A larger storm system will spread rain and mountain snow across southern California Thursday and continue through Friday.
Precipitation:
Rain...moderate to heavy at times will likely over spread much of the southland Thursday afternoon...become widespread Thursday evening and overnight...and continue through Friday morning...then become more showery during Friday afternoon.
Rainfall amounts:
Coastal plain... 0.50 to 1.50"
Valleys... 0.50 to 1.50"
Mountains and foothills... 1.00" to 3.00"
Deserts... 0.25"
Snow....heavy at times will fall over the mountains Thursday and Friday.
Strong winds combined with fall snow will produce near "white out" conditions.
Snowfall amounts:
12 to 18" possible over the Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains.
6 to 10" possible over the San Diego county mountains.
3 to 7" possible over the Santa Ana mountains.
