Hot, sticky and continued risk of thunderstorms for the holiday weekend
High pressure near the 4 corners region will bring hot...humid weather to the southland through the holiday weekend.Moisture in the southeast flow will continue the chances of thunderstorms. There may be an increase in areal coverage and intensity of the thunderstorm activity beginning later Saturday night and continuing through Sunday evening...as an easterly wave tracks westward across the region.
The primary threats from the thunderstorms this weekend,
...Strong & gusty winds, hail, locally heavy downpours and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes.
As for the heat,
...Temperatures on Saturday will likely reach into the middle to upper 90s for downtown LA, upper 90s to the lower 100s inland portions of the OC and in the 100s in all valley locations.
The beaches will see high temperatures on Saturday in the upper 70s to the middle 80s for the most part.
As usual the humidity will make it feel even more uncomfortable.
Temperatures Sunday and Labor day will be a couple of degrees cooler from the forecast highs on Saturday.
By the way,
...If you plan on cooling off at any of the southern California beaches this weekend... beware... there's a high risk of rip currents along the beaches of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and San Diego counties.
