Not as hot for the coastal areas on Tuesday!

(Negative, Infrared imagery of a "Mature" Thunderstorm)

The weather pattern that has been bringing the unbearable heat to the region is finally weakeng.

The noticable change on Tuesday will be the cooler temperatures along the coastal plain with forecast high temperatures in the 70s for the most part.

Meanwhile downtown LA will see high temperatures reach 90 and the Hollywood Hills in the middle to upper 90s.

There has been a return to the Marine layer along the OC and San Diego coast early Tuesday morning

A more extensive marine layer is forecast Tuesday night and Wednesday morning reaching inland portions of the coastal plain (including Downtown LA) by late evening.

For the coastal valleys... you will have to wait until Wednesday night and Thursday morning to see the gloom.

As for the thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts... with less humidity and more stable air than during the previous days...there should be less thunderstorm activity Tuesday afternoon/evening... with only 20% areal coverage or so.
