Major Santa Ana Wind Event Sunday through Tuesday

Updated at: 4:40am/pdt, Sunday, October 21st, 2007
Strong Santa Ana winds will continue through Tuesday.
Winds have the potential of gusting to around 80 mph through and just below passes and canyons (especially the San Bernardinos/San Gabriels).
Elsewhere... gusts of 55 to 70 mph are possible through and below passes and canyons.
Gusts to 50 mph are possible along the coastal plain and the coastal valleys...with locally higher gusts in the Malibu and Hollywood Hills.
With the high winds... areas of blowing dust and sand with reduced visibilities to near zero at times...especially interior valleys and in the deserts.
Temperatures will warm significantly over the next couple of days... reaching into the 90s in many areas...with lower 100s in some interior valley locations on Monday and Tuesday.
The high winds/warm temperatures and extremely dry conditions will make for dangerous fire conditions over the southland through Tuesday.
