So Cal. History made on October 2nd, 1858

(Off the coast of San Diego county)
Historic weather records show on October 2nd, 1853... Wind, Rain fell on the southland.
The system produce minimal hurricane force winds in San Diego...and Tropical Storm force winds as far north as Long Beach.
Even though the weather records are very limited from that far back... it's thought to be the only known tropical system to directly impact southern California.
A similar system if it was too hit the southland in 2007 would produce $200 million damage.
