"April Soup" to increase for the last day of the month.

The marine layer will increase over the coastal and valley areas to start the new week in the southland.

There will be the possibility of drizzle... coastal and valley locations late night and morning hours.

Daytime temperatures on Monday will range from the 60s at the beaches to the lower to middle 80s in the valleys.

Downtown L.A. & Inland portions of the OC will see temperatures in the lower to middle 70s.

Low clouds and fog...night and morning hours coastal areas...extending inland into some valley locations during the late night and morning hours for Sunday. Some patchy drizzle possible along the Orange and San Diego county coast Sunday morning.

Over the mountains and deserts...
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with hot temperatures in the deserts.

There will be a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms Sunday over the southern mountains.

Primary threats from any storms that do develop with be gusty winds to around 30 mph and dry lightning strikes.

There will be a slight risk of afternoon and evening thunderstorms on Sunday over the mountains of San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties.

The main threat from any storms that do develop will be dry lightning strikes and gusty winds to 30 mph or so.

A few showers for Earth Day

A trough of low pressure moving through northern/central California will bring light showers to the southland Sunday afternoon and evening.

Most areas will see amounts under one tenth of an inch...but some localized heavier amounts possible over the northern slopes of the Ventura and L.A. county mountains.

Temperatures for Earth Day will be in the 60s for most coastal and valley locations.

Locally gusty winds are likely over the mountains. Some gusts may exceed 30 mph at times in the afternoon and evening hours.

Nice weather Saturday...more light rain possible Sunday

A nice Saturday for the southland...as weak high pressure is over the region.
The last in a series of storm system will bring a few light rain showers to southern California Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.
These showers won't amount to very much... maybe 0.05 to 0.15" at the most for the coastal plain and the valleys.
Temperatures both Saturday and Sunday with be mainly in the 60s for the coastal plain and valleys.

Rain or rain showers will diminish from west to east across the southeastern portions of the southland through this evening.
Elsewhere... isolated to widely scattered showers through the evening hours.

Total Forecast rainfall amounts...
0.25 to 0.75" coastal plain and valleys/inland valleys.

0.75 to 1.50" in favored orographic enhanced areas of mountains.
0.10 to 0.20" high deserts
0.05 to 0.10" low deserts


Snow or snow showers will continue to fall through evening hours over the mountains of southern California.
This will effect driving conditions on the 5 Freeway through Grapevine.

Total snow accumulations may reach 3 to 8" over the mountains of Ventura/Los Angeles counties and over the mountais of the IE.

Snow Advisories are currently in effect for the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino,Riverside, San Diego counties and the Santa Ana Mountains.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible across the southland. The highest potential of the storms will be over Orange, San Diego counties, The IE...and the coastal waters.

Thunderstorms may produce small hail...gusty winds...rough seas and the possibility of short-lived waterspouts.


Another storm system has a chance of producing another round of precipitation to the southland late in the weekend.

At this time... the precipitation will the late weekend storm will be on the light side.

More winds on the way for the southland...

Winds will be on the increase over the northern mountains and high deserts this afternoon then become widespread over most mountain and desert locations this evening.

Winds may reach 45 mph over the mountains and deserts of San Bernardino and Riverside counties Tuesday evening through much of Wednesday.

Elsewhere... Gusts to over 30 mph are possible over the mountains of Ventura, Los Angeles and San Diego counties...and in the deserts of Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

Swells to 8 feet possible over the southern San Diego county beaches in the morning.

Blustery and damp conditions for Sunday

Lingering affects of the upper level storm system will continue through Sunday night over southern California.

Gusty winds will continue through Sunday night with some gusts reaching over 40 mph in the following locations of the southland... the south coast of Santa Barbara county...and the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties...and through the evening hours along the Ventura county coast and over the Antelope Valley.

Locally breezy conditions will be experienced across the remainder of SoCal.

As for the precipitation...
...Isolated to widely scattered through Sunday night...along with isolated thunderstorms...mainly Orange, San Diego counties and the Inland Empire.

Most areas will only see light amounts of rain (Trace to 0.10")...but some favored mountain locations may see amounts exceeding 0.10".

Isolated thunderstorms will have the potential of producing very small hail.
An outside chance of a brief waterspouts over the coastal waters...Orange and San Diego county coastal waters through the early evening hours.

Isolated rain or snow showers will continue to fall at times over the mountains of Ventura and L.A. counties (mainly northern slopes) through the evening hours. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. The snow level will be around 6,000'.

Low pressure will bring isolated to scattered showers and even a slight chance thunderstorms (mainly during the overnight hours Saturday then decreasing from west to east across southern California on Sunday morning.

Most areas will see Trace to 0.05 amounts...but amount up to 0.25" are possible over the mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties...mainly northern slopes.

Gusty winds will blow along the south coast and the mountains of Santa Barbara county this evening through Sunday....and late tonight through Sunday over the mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Gusts in these areas will exceed 45 mph at times...especially through and just below passes and canyons.

Elsewhere across SoCal... breezy conditions 10 to 25 mph are possible at times through Sunday.

Windy and High Swells on Friday

Some occasional breeze through and just below the passes and canyons are possible until sunset Friday evening...otherwise the winds have diminished for the most part across the southland.

High swells will continue to batter the southland beaches through Friday night. The highest swells will likely occur on the west/southwest beaches. Swell between 8 to 10 feet are likely.

Another major wind event is on tap late Saturday night through late Sunday night across southern California.

The strongest winds will occur over the mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties... the south coast of Santa Barbara county and in the Antelope Valley.

Gusts may exceed 60 mph in these areas.

Also... gusty winds can be experienced across much of the remainder of southern California late Saturday through late Sunday night.

Along with the winds will be a chance of showers across portions of the southland also a small chance of thunderstorms Sunday.

Gusts to over 60 mph are possible through Thursday evening over the mountains of Santa Barbara...Ventura and Los Angeles counties along with the Antelope Valley.

Elsewhere... gusts to over 45 mph are possible over the mountains and deserts of the IE and San Diego county...along with south coast of Santa Barbara county and the valleys of Los Angeles county through Thursday evening .

It will also be windy along the coastal plain (including downtown Los Angeles and the city of San Diego) through Thursday evening. Gusts to around 35 mph are possible.

High swells will continue to pound southland beaches through Thursday evening. The highest swells likely occur along exposed west/southwest beaches...where swells exceeding 10 feet are possible.

There will continue to be a high risk of rip currents for the remainder of the week.

Another wind event is possible during the second half of the upcoming weekend.

These conditions will continue to hold the temperatures in the 60 for most coastal and valley areas on Easter.

The April soup holds on...

The "April Soup" (low clouds and fog) continues to hold on Saturday.

Some areas along the coast may not even clear off at all.

Low clouds, fog and even drizzle will extend inland all the way to the coastal slopes of the mountains in the morning with gradual clearing to near the coast by mid to late afternoon.

With the April Soup... the temperatures will be several degrees below the seasonal normals...with temperatures in the lower to middle 60s at the beaches... upper 60s downtown L.A. and in in the upper 60s to the middle 70s in the valleys...except upper 70s in the eastern valleys of the IE.

A few light showers or isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible in the mountains and Antelope Valley.

The cloud cover will keep the temperatures for the most part in the 60s...except in the 70s in the some in the inland valleys.

Gloomy Thursday

Abundant moisture associated with a trough of low pressure over the eastern Pacific will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies to the southland on Thursday along with a few morning sprinkles or light showers (mainly Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties).

These clouds are expected to stick around through the weekend with an increase in the marine layer.

High pollen levels have expanded during the past week

High levels of pollen have expanded across southern California during the past week to the coastal areas.

High pollen levels continue to be reported across the high deserts, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Many people are experiencing cold-like symptoms...but very well may be pollen related...as pollen-related allergies produce cold-like symptoms.

As for Sunday's Weather outlook...
...Mostly sunny skies except for morning low clouds and fog...locally dense in some spots...especially coastal areas.

Afternoon high temperatures will be in the 60s at the coast...lower to middle 70s downtown L.A., 70s for inland Orange County...and in the middle 70s to the middle 80s out in the valleys.
