(Late fall rains in the desert - Friday, Nov. 30, 2007)
A low pressure will bring increasing cloudiness to the southland along with cooler temperatures and a chance of light showers (mostly under 0.10") to SoCal by late Friday and continuing into Saturday.
High pressure will bring fair and warmer conditions by early next week.
Updated at: 3:45am/pst, Wednesday, Nov. 28th, 2007
A "short-lived" off shore wind event Wednesday morning.
This is a result of a high pressure ridge over the Great Basin region. The high is forecast to move off the east...allowing for the winds diminish by mid afternoon on Wednesday.
The strongest wind gusts will occure over through and below the passes and canyons of Ventura...LA...Orange and San Bernardino counties.
In these areas... gusts may exceed 40 mph at times during the morning hours on Wednesday.
Models are indicating another "weak" off shore wind event Tuesday night and Wednesday.
The winds will be the strongest through and just below passes and canyons. But...should be lighter than the winds experienced across the southland on Saturday.
Along with winds... temperatures will warm a bit over the next couple of days... mainly in the 70s for most coastal and valley locations.
Looking ahead...
A weather system will bring more clouds and a few showers to the southland late this week.
A developing onshore flow will bring a return to the marine layer to much of the coastal plain...possibly spreading into some coastal valley locations during the night and morning hours through Tuesday.
Meanwhile... other than night and morning low clouds and fog... SoCal can expect to see periods of high cloudiness for much of the week.
The offshore flow will show a definate weakening trend for the remainder of the long holiday weekend.
Look for increasing high cloudiness on Sunday...otherwise fair weather can be expected.
Due to the low humidities... Red Flag Warning continue through much of Sunday.
Winds will be much lower Sunday than what much of SoCal experienced on Saturday.
(Pismo Beach - August 2001)A strong/cold low pressure will drop southward into the 4 cornets region on Saturday.
This will resul in strong/gusty winds over much of the region through at least Saturday afternoon.
The strongest gust will likely occur through and below passes and canyons. Gusts may reach or even exceed 70 mph at times in some locations late Friday night through early Saturday afternoon.
Unlike most off shore wind events... temperatures with this particular wind episode will be below the seasonal normals.
A moderate off shore wind event is on tap for late Friday through Saturday.
The strongest winds will occur in the unsual locations... through and below passes and canyons.
In some locations... gusts will likely exceed 55 mph in some spots.
Temperatures with this flow will not change much... remaining below normal for the most part.
Looking ahead to next week...
Big changes (possibly!)... a cold trough of low pressure may bring a chance of precipitation to the southland by mid to late week?

The stubborn marine layer will linger through Tuesday night...with only partial afternoon clearing at the coast.
Through Wednesday...
Models still predicting a potentiall strong off shore wind event next Tuesday through Thursday (Thanksgiving).
A downward trend in temperatures late this week/weekend...as a weak onshore flow develops.
Look for a deepening marine layer Friday and over the weekend also.
Next week...
A potentially major Santa Ana wind event is on tap by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week as an off shore flow will likely strengthen over the southland.
An upper level low pressure system (currently off the northern Baja coast) will weakend and drift southward through mid week.
Meanwhile... the southland will see seasonal temperatures with a slow warming trend through Wednesday... then slow cooling is expected by next weekend.
A return to the "gloom" is expected during the latter half of the week as a weak onshore flow returns to the southland.
A little something for everybody on Monday.
1): An exiting cold front will bring isolated showers to San Diego county during the morning hours.
Only light amounts (Trace to 0.02") excepted.
2): Gusty winds (gusts to around 40 mph) likely during the morning hours over the coastal valleys of Ventura county and the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
3): Areas of dense fog with visibilities under one quarter of a mile during the morning hours over the coastal and most valley sections of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
***Updated: 4:17pm/pst, Sunday, November 11th, 2007***
Strong northerly winds will develop across Santa Barbara county during Sunday...reaching into the mountain areas of Ventura and Los Angeles counties late in the day.
The low level flow will than transition into the northeast flow...allowing for a fairly strong off shore flow over the southland beginning either late Sunday night or early Monday morning... this flow will likely continue through at least mid-week.
A strengthening onshore flow will continue to deepen the marine layer over the southland for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
Above normal surf and high risk of rip currents will continue along the southland beaches through mid week.
This is due to a high swell generated by a storm in the southern hemisphere last week.
The south/southwest facing beaches will be the most prone to the above mentioned conditions...especially Ventura and Los Angeles county beaches.
A large south to southwest swell generated from a storm system in the southern Hemisphere will effect the southern California Tuesday and Wednesday.
Along with large swell will come the potential rip currents.
It is strongly advised that surfers and swimmers stay out of the water through mid week.
The November "June Gloom" pattern looks like it will stick around the southland for much of the week as a strong onshore flow prevails.
Remember...
High pressure will build build early this weekend over the Great Basin area of Nevada. This will result in a weak to moderate off shore flow over the southland... beginning late Friday night and lasting through Saturday evening.
High pressure will develop over the intermountain west. This will result in an weak to moderate off shore flow over the southland Friday night and Saturday.
