Heavy rains with threat of flooding/mudslides

If everything goes as plan... the southland is setting up for the most significant rainfall since January of 2005.

Three systems are forecast to move through from late Thursday through Sunday night.

The strongest system is the second system... which is forecast to move through late Friday and Saturday morning.

Total forecast rainfall amounts are as follows...
The coastal plain/valleys... 2 to 6"
Mountains: 3 to 8" with local amounts exceeding 10" on south facing slopes

High Deserts: up to 1"
Low Deserts: 1/2"

There is high potential of flooding and mudslides... this time... not just limited to the recent burn areas.

Snow levels will be quite high with the first 2 storms (accumulations mainly limited to elevations above 8,000 feet)...but with the colder temperatures associated with the third system forecast for Saturday night and Sunday... the accumulating snow will lower to around 4,000'.

It is strongly advised to keep informed on the changing weather situation later this week and weekend.
