Potentially damaging winds through Thursday

(Big Bear Lake)

Updated at: 3:33am/pst.Wednesday.January 16.2008

A powerful (potentially damaging) off shore wind will blow across the southland beginning early Wednesday morning and continue through much of Thursday.

Winds gusting to around 80 mph through and below passes and canyons with gusts exceeding 60 mph over most valley locations...especially late Wednesday evening through much of Thursday.

Elsewhere... local gusts to near 50 mph are possible across much of the coastal plain.

Temperatures will this off shore event with be much lower than the previous wind episode... due to cold air pushing south from the Great Basin and plateau region of Idaho.
