A very rare
weather phenomenon the "double rainbow" is caused by double
reflection of sunlight inside the raindrops, and appears at an
angle of 50°-53°. As a result of the second reflection,
the colors of a secondary rainbow are inverted compared to the
primary bow, with blue on the outside and red on the
inside.
In southern California,
"Double rainbows" are an extremely "once in a lifetime"
weather event to witness. |

The most
likely location to witness this weather phenomenon is the
deserts during monsoon season "
from late July through early September" |
