landslide occurred at apx. 6:51am/pdt
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 in the Bluebird
Canyon area of Laguna Beach. A 30-acre
piece of hillside between 50 to 60 feet
deep broke free and fell on the homes
below.
Possible factors that
lead to the landslides:
- Heavy
rains may have caused slipping
between layers of bedrock.
- Houses
were built on or near an ancient
landslide area.

officials indicate that it's too earlier
to determine the exact cause of the
landslide.
