November 12th, 2003 South L.A. Rain/Hail Storm

 
Details About the Storm
A Strong/Nearly Stationary "Storm Cell" developed over South Los Angeles...Including Watts...Lynwood and Willowbrook late in the afternoon and continued through the early evening hours. A rain gage located at 96th Street and Central recorded 5.35" in just a few hours...along with several inches of hail. The hail was on the ground for several days.

Much lighter rain fell at the two official NWS reporting stations in Los Angeles (LAX & Downtown (U.S.C.) and at nearby Long Beach).

Rainfall Amounts for November 12th, 2003:

  • LAX: 0.56"
  • Downtown Los Angeles: 0.63"
  • Long Beach Airport: 0.14"
